25 Years with my BFF!
When I was 17 I was walking to the bus stop one early morning when something inexplicable inspired me to look up and wish upon a star. I wished to meet a human that I could share my life with and love for the rest of my days.
I didn’t think much of it, but soon after that magical morning I met my human…the one that I could create a beautiful life with, the coolest dude on earth aka Abdias.
Fast forward to today, and Abdias and I are celebrating our 25-year anniversary! Abdias is not just my husband; he’s my best friend, the biggest fan I’ve ever had, my confidant, my partner in silliness, loving father of the humans that we made and the most amazing human I’ve ever known. Anyone who meets him can tell there is something extraordinary and out-of-this-world about him.
Earlier this year we ALMOST lost Abdias when he suffered big stroke that caused a serious hemorrhage in his brain. Looking back, that whole experience seems surreal but it really happened and it impacted our little family to the core. Before this, I could never imagine what life could be like without him and thankfully I still can’t.
I strongly believe that Abdias is destined for greatness on this earth, and he's only just begun his journey. He was recently diagnosed with Central Pain Syndrome which causes him debilitating pain on the entire left side of his body. In the past few months he has found solace in creativity and artistic expression, especially through drawing and painting. For me, a lifelong artist, it’s a dream come true to get to teach him everything I know and watch him blossom as an artist too. Our home is FULL of his mesmerizing paintings which document snippets of his long recovery journey.
So here's a virtual toast, not just to celebrate 25 years of love but to countless more years of making art with my favorite human on this Earth. Our story is a testament to the power of love and resilience. And to those still searching for true love, look up to the stars and make a wish, for the universe might just surprise you with the extraordinary love story you've been yearning for.
