DIY Valentine Cards!

Do you make your own greeting cards? I started making my own greeting cards when I was a kid because I could never find the perfect one 🤩

There are THOUSANDS of greeting cards to choose from at stores but I’ve always loved making my own. I love making cards for all my favorite humans and watching their excitement when they notice they’re custom-made. Recently some of my old school friends told me they still have the cards I made for them over 25 years ago!!!

I typically make my cards with ink and I don’t use many colors BUT this year my buddies from Kingart challenged me to create my Valentine Cards using their amazing watercolors. I decided to paint designs from my own Valentines collection of original doodles. I’ve included simple steps below so you can make your own cards too!

For this challenge I painted 2 Valentine Cards inspired by designs from my Tiny Tutorials:

Card #1: I love you more than the moon & the stars

Card #2: I sing because our love is true and nobody pulls at my heartstrings like you

The KingArt Materials I used:

Kingart Pearlescent Watercolors

I’m a watercolor newbie and I am loving it! The Pearlescent Watercolor pans are magical! The colors are vibrant, easy to work with and mesmerizing to look at during the painting process. Even when dry, the colors maintain a beautiful sparkle that keeps the magic going forever.

Kingart Watercolor Half-pans

The watercolor half-pan tin is MY FAVORITE! There are 48 gorgeous colors to paint with. They are vibrant, easy to work with and they dry beautifully! I’m a professional face painter who uses face paint in pans, so using the half-pans feels extremely familiar and fun! (dont use watercolors on skin!!!)

Kingart Watercolor Paint Tubes

The watercolor Paint tubes are a really cool option to paint with because the paints are thicker. I only used the white for highlights and the black for line work but I was impressed with both colors. They are easy to paint with and can be painted thick or thinned out. Can’t wait to try all the other colors!

Kingart Finesse Kolinsky Sable Brushes

I used the Kingart Finesse Kolinsky Sable Brushes to paint my Valentine cards. These brushes were impressive! The Kolinsky sable bristles are dense, soft and have excellent snap-back. They were amazing for painting with watercolor. I will absolutely be using these brushes to finish my children’s book!

Other Materials I used:

Want to get crafty? You can purchase these supplies on the Kingart website, at Walmart or Amazon too!

I LOVED this challenge. It was so nice to work with this great variety of watercolors and it was even cooler that the quality of all the art supplies is top notch. Thank you KingArt for inviting me to create something together ❤️
